Parents.....
I'm glad my parents are extremely open. Even then, my mom's kinda nosy... I seriously think because I'm a guy. In our culture (Asian speaking...), guys really gets more respect, and it's not fair. From what I've seen, a lot of the girls' parents are very protective, and simply because they're girls. Guys don't get as much restriction, if you will, simply because they're guys. the Society is changing now, as women are making a case for themselves, which is wonderful. However, when looking at the current situation, females simply is looked upon as inferior, and i think it's not fair. First of all, why does it happen? We cannot blame the males completely, because society's biast does not compose of only male biast, it's female and male combined. The fact that females are looked upon as inferior overall is part of a downward spiral which needs to be stopped. Because females are looked upon as inferior in society, parents tend to be protective of their daughters so they won't be mistreated later on. It's a good thing, but at the same time it also eminate the aura which confirms the society's biast, and this downward spiral continues from generation to generation. I feel that being overly protective on the parent's part is not a good thing; there should be a certain amount of protection (which is only proper), but at the same time develop a mutual communication channel. When parents can effectively communicate their concerns about the society's danger without being seen upon as a "tyrant", if u will, that when real success begins. Parents, after all, were teenagers. Even though they grew up in a different society, there are concerns and worries that are constant throughout generation and it's their best hope to bestow them to their children. However, this communication channel need delicate care, because it can turn into parents becoming over-protective, at the same time as the kids grow up they will think their parents are "tyrants" and the kids are then dubbed "rebellious". It takes a certain maturity from both generation to make sure this communication channel works. I believe that it will eventually come, because once kids becomes parents (that's the latest possible moment), they will understand everything their parents feel, and that's why communcation channel open up; unfortunately, by that time it's too late. The children needs a certain maturity that allows them to understand where they're coming from. I've heard a lot of "I understand why they're doing this, but that's just too much blah blah". Kids nowaday, according to themselves, are pretty intelligent and can understand many things that their parents are telling them (or so they say), and they feel that their parents are over-doing it. I believe that the teenagers do understand what their parents are talking about, but to ingraine those teachings in their brains (even though they "know" they do not "live" it) takes a lot of time and energy and that's when parents comes in... the method at which the parents often employs the kids do not like.. this is not a problem that can be solved outside of family, but within family, after all, only family understand each other more than ne one else in the world; hopefully all the parents in the world can find the right method(i suggest talking to their kids).
Is being protective bad? Absolutely not, no one can blame parents for trying to giving their kids the best, to prevent mistakes they made when they're a kid happening to their kids. I'm sure if you observe how some parents protect their kids, you can gain some insights in how they spent their childhood, and mistakes they've made. To attain that certain maturity to understand where the parents are coming from, observing the parents might help. My mom and dad are completely opposite dealing with school. My mom's all academic, all grades; my dad is as long as you've worked your hardest, i accept any kind of grade, but IF you dont go to school, doggonit, you're out of the house. This is not bad, actually, as I grew up and later on thinking about it. I observed why are they like that towards my brother and I. They're not extremist like some other parents out there, so i do enjoy a certain amount of established freedom. I realize that my mom is a biggie on academic is because she was big in academic herself. She did really well in the high school placement test in Taiwan, went to the best female high school in Taiwan, but her college placement test wasn't that great, so she didn't go to a good school in college(at least not those top elite school). That being said, i understand why she's big on my brother and my academic, because she doesn't want her mistake to be replayed in our lives. Nod. My father is the same too. He is very, very intelligent, from his talking you can clearly perceive a certain wisdom that he had. When he was in school, he went to the best high schools and best college on all-nighters (a lot of them) before the placement tests. Other than that, he played all his high school life and college life. He would, literally, right after the homeroom teacher take roll (in high school), flip out the school and go hang out. I'm sure he's done a lot of bad stuff and horrible things, and met many difficulty because he was well-prep in school (hey he's still a successful business man, but i believe he could be way more successful). That being said, no wonder he's big on us must go to school and try our best, while grade doesn't matter. Because he knows grades could simply be a representation of many all nighters pulled before midterms and test, the most important thing is that we go to school and try our hardest. He knows this because he had personally experienced not going to school and not doing as well because he was a slacker in school. Therefore it shaped his philosophy on teaching my brother and I about school, that going to school and try is very, very important.
Once you look at how your parents grow up, you will have more control and understand of why they're treating you the way they are.... hopefully this can help some people

Thanks to Lillian i got introduce to a new artist, who's pretty good, her name is Evonne Hsu. And of course, buddysong needs her song's presence. Before I get into the songs chosen and reasons why, later translation on buddysongs will continue. Please leave chatterbox (or comment) a msg if your song haven't been translated yet. Future buddysong update will follow this format:
Person: Someone Youknow
Song Title: Music Music
Artist: Some Artist
Reason: This can be short or long; short means it didn't take me long to choose, long meant it did.
Translation of the song.
(Hopefully, it will be four at a time, these buddysong updates. At the same time, FEATURED SONGs will be these, so feel free to listen to it as you read my petty little explaination and introduction!!)
I know there are a few songs i've been missing translating, please tell me which ones.
That being said, the four songs currently (8/6/2003) on the featuring is: Chloe, Rosalyn, Alice (new!!), and Natalie. I decided to translate all of them this time.
disclaimer: these evaluation are in no way pertaining to the real person and their state of mind, it's a TOTAL SUBJECTIVE point of me, by me....there have been concerns voiced out about their indivdual songs to me, so feel free to do the same. I chose these songs based on how i perceived them as friends, and the "aura"(if u will, ppl know i'm big on aura) they exude as far as I've experienced it, from blog, in person, or otherwise...
Person:Chloe
Song Title: I have a date with Happiness
Artist: S.H.E.
Reason: haha, if you haven't realized, this blog originally started out with the name "i have a date with happiness". Wellz, i chose this song as I was making the blog layout. The reason that I chose this song for Chloe is because she's always cheery!! Wellz, she's going to tell me otherwise, but that's how she presents herself in front of others, and many can be my witness for the observation, therefore, as true as it can be, her song is "I have a date with Happiness". Hopefully she can always be happy~~~no matter in what kind of situation!! Chloe ROX!!(Taz rox too)
Translation:
Good Night Tokyo… is it still raining?
How much I missed you so
Star shines bright
What a treat ~ to have met you in this life time
Oh I believe ~ you can understand without words
Quiet world changed because of you
Even a cup of overnight coffee becomes sweet in aroma
No worry, no concern, because I have a date with happiness
Even when I'm only it doesn’t matter
Because thinking of you eliminate the distance between love
For you, I am willing to take time and take care of myself
And please do not forget that~~
We have a date with happiness
Person: Rosalyn (or rosie, or tofu, or jaiya, or wiggly, depending on your preference)
Song Title: Irreplaceable
Artist: SHE
Reason: I actually chat with Rosalyn a lot, about her outlook on love, and many other psychological discussion, but no i'm not her psychatrist. Anyways, she's really conservative on her outlook on love and relationship, even more so than some of the FOB parents. This is reason #1 i chose this song. From discussion I conclude that she's very conservative, howver, when she's falls into a relationship... she become a complete romantic idealist... thus comes the second reason. Thirdly, this song is cute-style, fits her tofu-ness... without further adieu, here it is....
Translation:
Tonight's star is so bright
You're early for our date
You've cut your hair, somewhat looks hotter
We chat, talked, every time we went back to the old times
Ever since then you are good to me
Because we separated shortly
The memories only seems to warm up
Did u gain any new insight
You always say
Simple is a blessing
That someone is the Lord's greatest gift
No matter how far apart, you will always protect
Can you feel love tonight (English)
I'm like walking on cloud
Your every sentence is irreplaceable
Love is the Gathering of unknown
it can be good or bad
the Answer is only revealed at the last minute
Can you feel love tonight (English)
Just step out and love
Every moment to hold, is irreplaceable
Midnight we climb up the roof to gaze upon the sky
From black to white happiness are only a few feet away
When there's hurricane you're here
Only true love can predict the unknown future
As long as we work together, swim through the tide of time
Promise each other that we will be happier today than yesterday
Can you feel Love tonight (English)
We invite the future
Love's every second is irreplaceable
We've gone through much, the wind of memory blows upon us
And then realized Love hasn't really left
Because a true heart...... is irreplaceable
Person: Alice
Song Title: I wanna be with You
Artist: Jilly Hsu (from her chinese name... i dont know if it's real)
Reason: First of all, this song is chosen on the aura it exude, and the singer's "pureness" in motivation (if anyone understands that....). For those who knows Alice, THE adjective to describe her is "pure"... enough said ;) Listen to the song while reading the lyric will make you understand.
Translation:
No energy~so lazy~~ lean on you, and joke around with you
Even though i really need to work~~ my heart's full of joy
really~~really dont want to open my eyes
You and I~ our ampere is so simliar (metaphor/smilie?) no pressure~feel free to be myself
First time I've experienced love's determination
Simply want simply want~~ to be with you
I wanna be with you (English)
Loving you is a treat
want to construct a love's afternoon
i wanna be with you (English)
Loving you is such fulfillment
Enjoy the most tender bond~~ with your care~ i'll never be alone
Person: Natalie
Song: The White Love Song
Artist: SHE
Reason: The Natalie I know went through a couple of stages. Her attitude towards everything I feel has changed a lot ever since she was a freshman (maybe that's because I didn't really know her until later on in high school). From courageous, bold, but some times too headstrong, to (now) a conserved, more steady, calm, but a lady with principle. I believe this song's completely present an aura that you see in her now: peaceful, calm, yet turbulant at heart. To her new budding love, here's the White Love Song.....
Translation:
The white footstep
It is the trace of your departure
The night cannot erase it
Its deep and clear imprint
It's You The long string of footprints
Explain This winter's sweetness
It's You~~ the white you the white shirt the white shadow
Think of you~~ the white eyes the white breath the white footprint
and your pure white heart
Everytime we meet, the extraordinary enter the depth of my hear
just like the white forest, always giving my heart surprises
Oh Yes You Did (x2)
Rememberance from the moment you left
Maybe this is destiny's magic
It's You~~ the white you the white shirt the white shadow
Think of you~~ the white eyes the white breath the white footprint
and your pure white heart
Oh why does time fly by so quickly?
why do we have to part whn we meet?
Can't we stay together forever?
share our joy, share our laugh until the sunrise
who is here to tell me, why it is you
I don't care, I can't care, I can't hide
In my mind my heart my dream it's all you
It's You~~ the white you the white shirt the white shadow
Think of you~~ the white eyes the white breath the white footprint
and your pure white heart
The white you~~~ the white heart (x2)
I don't care, I can't care, I can't hide
In my mind my heart my dream it's all you
and a White heart
THERE WILL BE BUDDYSONG UPDATES, next ones: Lindsey, Lillian, Stanley, and Carlus stay tuned.... ;p

Yesterday I witnessed something really really interesting. If I take a survey of all the CHS students and ask them, "what's the hardest class in the entire school?" I can bet you 100 dollars that the survey winner is AP US History (ok, AP Physics and Chem and Bio is up there, but not like THAT up there). That being said here's my story.
Yesterday night as usual I was on the computer IMing away and playing games. Chosen being the good, upright person he is, went to sleep quite early, something like 11:30. Wellz, he can't fall asleep. Usually in the house if we can't fall asleep we read something until our eyes gets sore (NO, that's not why i'm wearing a glasses.. wait i dont know about that) so we fall asleep. We have comics, Jing Young, many different kind of entertaining book... but my brother chose the ultimate entertainment - AP US textbook. (inhale... exhale... make sure you're still breathing) Of all the book he can read he chose the AP US history textbook. Wellz, you think, that'd make him fall asleep, so what's wrong with that? Wellz, he read a whole chapter's worth (those LONG chapter) and still didn't fall asleep, and i think he was more awake than before he started to read.
My brother actually find the US history book quite interesting, even though I dont understand how. I mean, back in the days when i was reading those textbooks, it was something i had to read, had to concentrate upon, and took my a long long time to read. Chosen just sorta read through it like it's a story, a interesting story, and it hink absorbed everything very well. The one book that epitomizes high school misery he'd chew it up like it's vanilla ice cream w/ chocolate chips littered on it. Dang, that's just amazing. I'm glad for him though, being able to enjoy US history like none others I've ever met....
